Rainy season and hurricane season are not the same
The tourism authority describes June to December as the rainy season and December to April as the driest, busiest period. December appears in both descriptions because seasonal boundaries are broad, not a switch on a particular date.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November. That is a regional season, not a forecast that a storm will affect your stay. Equally, being in the southern Caribbean does not make a trip immune to disruption. Check local forecasts and the terms attached to your booking.
Choose a travel window
| Months | Planning advantage | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| January to April | Within the drier travel period | Busy season; compare availability early |
| May | A useful month to compare between seasons | Lower prices are possible, not guaranteed |
| June | Potential value with flexible plans | Wetter period and hurricane season begin |
| July to November | Warm weather and scope to compare offers | Allow flexibility for rain and storm disruption |
| December | Transition towards the drier, busy season | Rain remains possible; festive booking terms can differ |
What months should you avoid?
There is no month everyone should avoid. If a short, fixed-date holiday depends on uninterrupted boat trips or hiking, the June-to-November hurricane-season window is a less comfortable fit for your priorities than the drier part of the year.
If you can change plans, wetter-season travel can still make sense. Schedule your must-do outdoor activity early enough to leave a second opportunity later in the stay. Ask the operator how weather cancellations work before paying.
Does it rain all day?
The tourism authority describes typical showers as brief, with more rainfall in the rainforest than on the coast. That is a climate description, not a promise: a particular weather system can still spoil a day or disrupt transport. Keep a light rain layer and avoid packing every day with non-refundable activities.
Which month is hottest?
Saint Lucia stays warm throughout the year. The official travel guidance we checked does not establish a single hottest month using a consistent monthly data series, so we would not choose dates on that claim alone. If heat affects your comfort, prioritise cooling in your exact room, shaded breaks and shorter outdoor plans.
For an open-air room, ask how ventilation and cooling work. A resort-wide description is not a substitute for the specification of the category you are booking.
