What the seasons actually mean
The south receives more annual rainfall than the north. Check forecasts and marine advisories for your resort's atoll, not just Malé.

Does it rain all day in the wet season?
Rain is commonly showery with sunny intervals, although prolonged bad weather is possible. Leave time to reschedule boat trips and choose an island with indoor activities you would enjoy.
How to compare dates on price
Compare several date windows for the same room, guest ages, meal plan and cancellation terms. Include return transfers, taxes and meals in each total; the lowest room rate may not be the cheapest stay.
Choose dates around the holiday you want
For family holidays, confirm room capacity for your children's ages before booking flights. For diving, surfing or wildlife trips, ask the local operator about conditions at the specific site; a national season guide cannot predict visibility or sightings.
Does the season change the transfer decision?
Seaplane connections depend on daylight and flight cutoffs. The Ritz-Carlton offers reserved boat transfers around the clock, though weather can still disrupt them. Send your flight numbers to the resort before booking and confirm any required overnight stay.
