Oh, autumn, what a lovely period of the year. Colorful leaves are falling; the breeze is tickling, the rain washes away all negative thoughts, kindly warning and preparing us for the cold embrace of winter. But what do we usually do when autumn comes? Some get back from their summer vacations, some start working, going to college, locking themselves at home feeling depressed because summer is over. Rarely when people choose to travel this period of the year. But is this a good choice to make?

On the one hand, people are waiting impatiently for the summer or winter holidays to come. And yes, it’s always nice to plan out your summer vacation or decide how and where you’re going to spend the Christmas holidays during winter time. But are those periods of the year the best ones for traveling? Do we have to take autumn and spring for granted, waiting for them to come to an end quickly so that we can go on a vacation? Well, here are some reasons why you should reconsider autumn as the period of the year to go on a trip:

  1. Excellent climate conditions

If it’s autumn, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is going to rain all the time. Yes, it happens that the rain can pour down several days in a row, but come on, why focus on the negative aspect of rain? Let’s try to see it this way: Autumn is a season after summer, right? And the weather during summer can be scorching, which we find it good because we can go to the beach, but that’s not always okay. We may love the sun, but if we’re not careful, it can quickly burn your skin and leave us with consequences.

But what happens when you visit a new city, and you have to take a day tour of the attractions of that town? Now the sun is not your best friend right? You start to feel like you’re out of energy, your head starts hurting, you’re sweating because it’s insanely warm, etc. Well, these things don’t tend to happen during the autumn season, since the weather is good and highly adaptable for a person’s body. Yes, you can still enjoy the sun, but the small breeze will cool down the burning effects of it. Moreover, you won’t have to worry about your clothes getting all wet and sweaty in a second, which is quite unpleasant for you and the people around you. And the best part is – if you’re willing to go to the beach, you can still do that in autumn. Take the Greeks, for example; they’re enjoying fall to the fullest, swimming in their magnificent sea and sunbathing all day.

  1. Traveling out of season is cheaper

This one is pure logic. When it’s the season for vacations and going, like summer and winter, the people’s demand for holidays increases, thus the prices of the traveling offers increase as well. It may seem that traveling agencies understood this trend a long time ago, that they’ve used it to get more money out of people, but the truth is that their costs are also increased during the summer/winter time, and that is why they have to put some extra price to the offers. However, if you’re traveling some time that is out of season, like in winter, for example, you can come across much cheaper and several offers that will also save you some money for your next trip. You will even feel the difference in the local stores – the products can also be sold for a lower price during autumn time.

  1. Avoid the stampede of tourists

Remember how up until now you’ve belonged to the group of people that travel only in season periods of the year? Well, you have belonged to the people that you’ve probably wanted to avoid while visiting a new city. You know all that crowd and mess a city survives when tourists attack it? An interesting fact is that they’re not only annoying the locals but also the other tourists that simply want to enjoy the spirit of the city. Just imagine yourself visiting your dream destination, like Barcelona for example, and you want to admire Gaudi’s work in peace. But of course, if you go in summer what you’re probably going to admire is the hundreds of selfie sticks up in the air, threatening that they will hit you “by accident”.

Or for example, you’ve had a rough year, and you want to chill down and just lay on one of Miami’s fabulous beaches. However, if you go there in summer, there’s a significant possibility that the beach will lay on you – meaning that the beach will be so crowded, that you’ll find yourself a victim of the beach actions of the visitors, whether that will be people playing beach sports or kids throwing sand and screaming after their parents and so on.

Now, regarding this reason, we can sum up that it’s great to travel in autumn because most of the people have already started working or going to school/college so that you will have your time of peaceful wandering around the city.

Travel in Autumn

  1. Colors, colors everywhere

We cannot ignore the fact that autumn wakes up the artistic soul in every human’s mind. The colorful leaves on the ground, the long green fields, the magical rainbows after the rain, all that provides many breathtaking views that will make you appreciate nature even more. There are even some places in the world where you can experience their real beauty only in the autumn season. Just imagine your amazing travel photos – you won’t even have to put filters on them to achieve the “WOW effect”.

  1. Step out of the crowd

The winter holidays are coming, and everybody is on their quest for finding the perfect skiing and traveling destination or where the best place to celebrate the New Year’s Eve is. Again, due to the previously discussed reasons, everybody is going to attack the travel agencies to find a good offer for their “great” escape. Just because everybody’s going somewhere in that period of the year, doesn’t mean you have to follow them automatically. Step out of the crowd, think about the best way to celebrate those moments with your closest family and friends and leave the traveling decisions for a better period of the year when you’ll be properly prepared. After all, they’re all going to come back and discuss their experiences, so you won’t get your proper spotlight even if you went to the moon and back.

Traveling is a gift, no matter which season you pick to do it. However, if you want to have the ultimate experience, you sometimes have to think wisely about the traveling decisions, which means that you also have to take the season of the year into account. Don’t rush into these decisions, but take some time to think about them. After all, you’re investing your time and your money in something that should please you, not disappoint you.
