The creativity of hoteliers knows no boundaries. They guess even the dreams guests wouldn’t ever think they have. Have you ever imagined yourself sleeping in an underwater hotel room? Unless you’re a very quirky artist or you’ve experimented with some specific substances, you probably haven’t, but a few glances of the fantastic hotels we’re about to show you will make you add this experience to your bucket list. Underwater rooms exist; it’s not just a mad man’s imagination. Several properties offer such lodgings, so stick with us, and we’ll show you the most incredible ones you can find in the world.

Underwater hotel Atlantis in Dubai

This luxurious and extravagant hotel features two original suites. Their names are very accurate: Neptune and Poseidon. The suites are incredibly spacious; they come with dining rooms, living rooms, gorgeous bathrooms, and 24-carat gold flaked soap (sic!). That itself sounds like tons of luxury, but the views most of all make the Suites special. Behind the transparent walls, there’s the Ambassador Lagoon aquarium. The lagoon’s a home of 65,00 marine mammals, from sea turtles, stingrays, and sharks to sea lions, dolphins and seahorses. The suites can fit in up to 5 people. All guests have the luxury of 24/7 butler service. The butlers are masters of their profession and can meet expectations of the most demanding clients. No request is too much, whether you want to skydive, hug a giraffe or fly in a hot air balloon, they’ll most likely make it happen.

Atlantis, the Palm features lots of other amenities too. There are several bars and restaurants, spas, fitness centers, adventure waterpark, and aquarium. Diving, PADI and snorkeling courses, boat cruises, evening parties and events for children, there’s everything you could want from a hotel – and more.

Price of the Atlantis underwater hotel room

The hotel’s offer is unquestionably fantastic, yet the price’s amazing too, for one night in the underwater hotel room you’ll pay at least $8200 a night. Atlantic has recently become especially famous because a celebrity Khloe Kardashian stayed there for a few days.

Hydropolis Underwater Hotel and Resort in Dubai

Soon there’ll be more options for booking an underwater hotel room in Dubai. The Hydropolis Underwater Hotel and Resort is now under construction. It’s going to be the world’s first multi-room underwater hotel. The plan’s very ambitious: the building’s supposed to contain the land post for greeting guests upon arrival, a subway conveying them to the central part, and underwater complex featuring 220 suites. The property’s going to be gigantic; the construction project covers 260 hectares (as much as London’s Hyde Park). It’s a massive enterprise in which about 150 companies are engaged. A significant role is played by General Sheikh His Excellency Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prince of the land of Dubai, who owns the land on which the hotel’s being constructed.

Hydropolis is designed by Joachim Hauser who’s cooperating with Prof. Roland Dieterle. They both believe humans are closely connected with water, that’s where the idea came from.

Hydropolis is one of the biggest architectonic projects currently under constructions. Architecture enthusiasts all over the world wait for it to be completed. Besides of being grand and artistic, it’s also madly expensive – the costs are predicted to reach approximately €600 million Euro.

Sounds fascinating? Well, you’ve got to wait a bit for this one to be ready. For now, there’s Atlantis, the Palm underwater hotel room in Dubai and several other properties around the world that feature similar suites.

The Manta Resort underwater hotel room, Pemba Island, Zanzibar

Zanzibar is a pure delight, and the Pemba Island is the place to be if you’re looking for long and pleasant days of relaxation and enjoyment. And of course, if you’re not planning on spending the night sleeping on the beach, you have to pick one of the most fabulous resorts on the island. The Manta Resort offers different types of accommodation, from comfortable garden rooms to the famous and exciting underwater room. And as much as we cannot turn our eyes away from the extravagance of the garden rooms which are located on the solid ground of the island, there is this one place that raises the excitement in our hearts. The underwater room is a private floating island in the waters of the Indian Ocean, composed of a bedroom which is found to be four meters below the surface.

The room, which looks rather like a wooden house in the ocean, is a Swedish engineering masterpiece and it is composed of three levels. At first, there’s the Landing Deck which is found at sea level, and it offers a bathroom facility and a lounge area. The Landing Deck is connected to both additional levels with a ladder, bringing us to the highest part of the room, which is a wooden platform consisting of a lounging area. Here you will probably spend most of your days sunbathing and most of the nights gazing at the magical stars up in the clear sky.

Nevertheless, the greatest attraction of this room is the underwater experience. How would you like to spend the night in a comfy double bed in the ocean, with a 360-degrees view of the marine life happening around you? It’s a magnificent experience for sure and a great way to meet various water species in their natural habitat. People say that coral has already started establishing itself on the outside of the structure and you might be surprised how friendly octopuses and Spanish dancers may appear, once they attach to your perfectly safe underwater windows. And despite the occasional visit by some water creature, be sure that the room offers quite some privacy as it lies approximately 250m from the shore. Finally, you can have all this plus additional services like food, drinks and so on for $1500 for a double room per night.

Utter Inn Hotel, Vasteras, Sweden

Utter Inn Hotel might not be a superior option as the previous hotels, but the Swedish people also know how to provide their tourists with the underwater sleeping experience. If by any chance you’re going to the city of Vasteras, make sure to book a room at the Utter Inn Hotel. This marvelous architecture piece is a result of the work of Mikael Genberg – a local artist. Nevertheless, the underwater hotel room is located nearby the Vasteras harbor from where a short boat ride is provided as transportation to the hotel and back.

The hotel is on two levels, consisting of the upper deck which is at sea level, where guests can relax and enjoy the view from the outside. However, the bedroom is found to be 3 meters below the surface of the water, a small but comfortable room with two beds and panorama windows positioned in all four directions. On the upper floor, guests can find their equipped kitchen and toilet, however, this underwater hotel room offers no electricity, but it rather functions with a portable gas heater and lightning. The Utter Inn is perfect for adventurers, as during the day you can go on a boat ride and explore the neighboring uninhabited islands and the spectacular nature. All in all, if you’re interested in spending the night here, make sure to book your stay between April and October, since in the winter time the hotel is closed.

Subsix at Niyama, Maldives

Just when you thought that your stay couldn’t get any better at the Maldives, an impressive resort such as the Per Aquum Niyama Resort appears, and you are stunned. The variety of accommodation that this resort offers just adds up to the heavenly taste of the Maldives. But let’s stick to the ultimate wish of ours – the one and only underwater experience! Now, this hotel doesn’t offer any accommodation in the waters of the Indian Ocean (well, not yet), but it gives you the pleasure to visit Subsix – a scenic restaurant by day and a stunning nightclub by night.

Subsix at Niyama Maldives

Subsix is a luxurious facility, with a highly valuable and stylish interior, but you won’t probably be able to get your eyes away from the enormous windows letting you dive your sight in the blue underwater world of the Maldives. There’s no doubt you’ll be amazed by the various species and the lively marine world while sitting six meters below the surface of the water. There is no better way to enjoy a delicious gourmet dinner and a glass of champagne, feeling spectacular under the illuminating Italian chandeliers.

Pick your favorite underwater hotel room

The trend of underwater hotels and similar facilities just keeps rising. Nowadays, you can even enjoy an underwater spa – something that has proven to be a refreshing experience. And since the trend is increasing, so are the future projects for total underwater hotels and even more exciting and border-moving accommodation experiences. Therefore, take a look at the following already existing or soon to be built hotels that are changing the game in the hospitality industry:

  • The National Aquarium, Baltimore, Maryland
  • Poseidon Undersea Resort, Fiji
  • Jules Undersea Lodge, Key Largo, Florida
  • Hilton’s Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort, Rangali Island, the Maldives
