We have read and heard this famous traveling quote many times: “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” It definitely sounds nice, but do you get the point of it? Does it touch you and make you pack your bags instantly and go for an unforgettable journey? If it doesn’t, then read it again, because this is the secret to a happy life. Think of all the things you’re missing when you choose to stay in your comfort zone rather than explore the wonders of the world.

But why do we feel the urge to travel in the first place? Why are we so in love with places we haven’t been to and people we haven’t met?

The famous writer Paulo Coelho once said: “If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine – it is lethal.”

Travel to get to know yourself

When you’re on the road, you find yourself facing situations you haven’t experienced in conditions you haven’t met before. You’re sometimes surrounded by people you’re meeting for the first time. In these (sometimes unpleasant) events you find out characteristics, skills, talents and other stuff about yourself and the people around you that you haven’t been aware of before. It has happened so many times that people have fallen in love with different cultures, languages, traditions or strangers that they have found their new home.

Travel to understand

Traveling can help you understand the meaning of life, but I guess this statement doesn’t really make sense to you. To clarify: when you travel, you get to meet people from different nationalities and visit places where different habits and traditions are respected. Interacting with the new surroundings and individuals can help you understand different opinions, mentalities, and beliefs.

Travel to enter new horizons

The more you see and understand the world, the more perspectives you will create in life. And the more open you’ll be for new ideas. This will not only help you become a better person but will also turn you into a more experienced and more qualified employee. People love to cooperate with a person that can look beyond what he/she sees.

Travel to start appreciating the little things in life

If you are a secular person and keep having money on your mind, stop for a moment and think about the following: “Travel is the only thing you buy, that makes you richer.”

This is not a simple quote to turn you away from your focus. It is kind of a fact. People tend to create and remember memories rather than objects they’ve bought or money they’ve spent on something unimportant. A mere moment of watching the sunrise at the beach with your friends can make you feel more satisfied and full of joy rather than the golden jewelry you bought for a huge amount of money. And traveling can help you respect the little things that make life sweet.

Travel to find your soulmate(s)

When you travel, you get to meet many people, every one of them unique in his/her own way. However, you will be surprised to find out how many people have similar tastes, opinions, and habits as you, even if they live on the totally opposite side of the globe. Meeting new people and spending some time away from home with them can help you respond to new friends, family and even your significant other. Although, it doesn’t mean that this happens only with new people you meet on the road. It can also happen that you connect more or decide to depart with the people traveling with you. That`s how incredible a journey is, it helps you get closer to the point of happiness.

Travel to feel satisfied

To travel means to experience new things in life, and to experience something ways to let all your senses open up and find what they actually enjoy. People associate traveling to taking drugs – once you do it, you will be asking for more. And the best part is, you can share your adventure and happiness among others. Like Ibn Battuta said: “Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.”

Travel to get lost and find yourself again

If you’re feeling like you’ve had enough of the people around you and you can’t stand the tempo of your everyday life, then traveling can offer you the greatest solution of all. You can only go far from anything that’s bothering you and try to find a place where you can think about the future. Or even don’t think about anything if you prefer it that way, just enjoy the moment. It is amazing how many people have started traveling to run away from their problems. When suddenly, far away from all the pressure, they have found peace and hopefully the perfect solution. “You don’t need magic to disappear. All you need is a destination.”

Travel to start a new chapter in life

If you’re totally disappointed with your current position in life and you think there’s nothing you can do about it, then you should know that you have to change something. Even though many times the thing that should be modified is YOU! Luckily, traveling can give you time off of whatever is going on in your life and send you to new places. Here you’ll have the chance to change something you previously didn’t like. You can also change some things about yourself if you think that it will help you feel better. Remember that when you’re traveling, you get to be surrounded with new people that will be open to meet the real you, if you haven’t had the chance to show it so far.

Take every step.” you have to travel and seize the moments in your life. Don’t be scared to go out of your comfort zone, because that’s when you get creative and you feel alive. Be open to new stuff, especially people, but never forget the ones you already have in your life. Better yet, if they’re living abroad, make sure to travel to meet them again and remind yourself of the good times. On the other hand, it is wonderful to know that wherever you’re wandering in the world. There’s someone back home impatiently waiting for you to return.

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”

So what are you waiting for? Pack up your things and travel to a happy life!
