Pabst Mansion

Take a step back in time when you visit this enormous mansion built by Captain Frederick Pabst, who was Milwaukee’s famous beer baron. It cost over 200,000 dollars to build in the 1800’s, so the worth now would be incredible. There are three floors of the mansion to tour. It had 66 original rooms, ten bathrooms, 14 fireplaces and is 20,019 square feet. 12 servants kept the place up and running, and they stayed on site. You can do a self-guided tour if you would prefer, and explore yourself. Admire the ornate woodwork, the pocket doors, butler’s pantry, gorgeous décor, and not to mention the amazing architecture, and all done without power tools. The architecture of the art museum is as interesting as the art itself. The museum has an amazing and diverse collection, and the displays and exhibits are well done and interesting. Favorites are the button sculpture, the infinity room, the Bradley collection, and the war memorial section. Many eras and time periods are covered as well, and there is something for all ages to enjoy. The museum is located on the waterfront of Lake Michigan, and it has lovely views of the lake. The café is delicious and has good service, and there is a coffee shop that serves great espresso. Basilica of St. Josaphat

The basilica was modeled after St. Peter’s church in Rome and is stunning. The church is huge, and a large dome stretches towards the sky. Once inside, you can spend hours staring at the beauty of this massive church. The altar area, the pews and stone floors, the paintings and stained glass are exceptionally well done and breathtaking. Learn the history of how the basilica came to be and take in the magnificent architecture. A give shop is available to take a treasure home with you if you so desire. Don’t forget your camera, as some state this is the most stunning church they have ever seen.

The Milwaukee Zoo is considered one of the best zoos in the country. There is a petting zoo for your kids, and the grounds are beautiful as well as clean. There is a great variety of animals for a smaller city, and they all look happy and well cared for. A train-trolley eases it way along the paths, and animal displays are up close and fantastic. The staff and keepers are friendly and polite, and you can learn a lot from them. There is a lot to see and do and people who visit a state that this is one of the nicest zoos they have ever been to.
