History of Mirror Lake Inn

Mirror Lake Inn originally started out as Mir-a-Lac Inn in 1926. William Wikoff and his wife Climena moved to Lake Placid, after success in their financial endeavors. They purchased an estate, and created the Mir-a-Lac Inn, drawing wealthy customers to its doors. In 1932, the entire Inn was rented by the Norwegian Team for the winter Olympics. Climena eventually took the title to the inn and hanged the name to Mirror Lake Inn. Mirror Lake was a leader in winter activities, having the first electric tow rope installed on Dream Hill behind the inn, and was also the first to set up an ice-skating camp, where many figure skating champions practiced and skated. Mirror Lake is infamous for its delicious food and pleasant hospitality since 1926.

Mirror Dining

The Mirror Lake Inn has been famous for its excellent food since its very beginnings. Mr. and Mrs. Wikoff used vegetables from their garden and purchased their goods from local farmers, ensuring freshness and a real New York taste. The tradition continues today as fresh herbs are still used from Mirror Lake’s herb garden, and their Adirondack Flapjacks are still a customer favorite. The View Restaurant is located on site and has won the Wine Spectator’s Dining Award fifteen times! Dinner has various fish and crab cakes, a prime beef filet, and many more delicious options. They are open seven days a week and on holidays as well. The Taste Bistro and Bar is the perfect place for a casual meal. Gaze out on Mirror Lake as you dine, and stop by Friday evenings for live music and a cocktail with your partner. The Cottage is another Mirror Lake dining option, and a favorite among skiers. Come snuggle up with your sweetie by one of the many wood burning fireplaces both inside and outside. Bloody Marys are the favorite here, so grab one and enjoy the day.
